Develop interdisciplinary research in chemical biology&Innovative drug application transformation cooperation

Research Areas: interdisciplinary research in chemical biology, biosynthetic engineering for drug discovery. Other core research areas: computational chemistry and drug design, synthetic chemistry, translational biology, chiral catalysis and synthesis, chemical synthetic biology, microbial natural products. Translational research will focus on cancer, metabolic disease, liver diseases, inflammatory and degenerative diseases. Our institute seeks to make breakthrough discoveries at molecular chemical biology research area, which will make contributions to research and development of innovative drug in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Molecular Synthesis

The Molecular Synthesis program at the SZBL-IMCB brings together a talented and diverse group of researchers that share a deep commitment to advancing molecular synthesis through the use of total organic synthesis, organocatalysis, and biosynthesis, along with a fundamental understanding of the mechanisms behind.

Functional Biomolecules

The functional biomolecules program devotes to the understanding and manipulations of biomolecules in biological systems, focusing on proteins, nucleic acids,glycans, and lipids. Chemical biological strategies like protein chemistry, chemical genetics,gene editing, and other interdisciplinary fields will be integrated synergistically, paving the way to translatable research on the development of future drugs and therapy for human health.

Chemical Microbiology

The Chemical Microbiology program at the SZBL-IMCB focuses on the development and use of cutting-edge chemical and biological tools and approaches to better understand the role microbes play in health and disease, with an emphasis on microbiome.

Biophysical Chemistry

The Biophysical Chemistry program at the SZBL-IMCB approaches the biological questions from the perspective of physical chemistry. It is mainly devoted to the theoretical and quantitative aspects of the kinetics, molecular dynamics, and stochastic properties that underlies the complex biological and biochemical processes.It also focuses on developing the state-of-arts technologies such as single-molecule analysis and super-resolution imaging for quantitative analysis at the molecular level.
