Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (hereinafter referred to as "SZBL"), together with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the University of Hong Kong, jointly cultivates doctoral candidates, under the guidance of dual mentors, and awards doctoral degrees to partner institutions.

Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (Guangdong Provincial Laboratory for Life Information and Biomedicine, hereinafter referred to as "the Laboratory") is a major strategic deployment of Guangdong Province and Shenzhen City to build the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao International Science and Technology Innovation Center and a comprehensive national science center, and is a major innovation carrier fully supported by Shenzhen in the construction of a socialist demonstration zone with Chinese characteristics.
